This leaflet from the Royal College of Psychiatrists gives information about how people normally grieve after a loss, information on unresolved grief and the places where you can get help. Click the link above to view the leaflet online.

A website aimed at everyone, whether they are considering their own death, coping with the death of a loved one, thinking about making a will or just needing some comforting words to help write a letter to a bereaved friend or family member.


The WAY Foundation
The Way Foundation provides a self-help social and support network for men and women widowed up to the age of 50, and their children. The main aim is to help those widowed young to rebuild their lives by helping one another. There are groups running around the country.


What to do after a death in England and Wales
Department of Work and Pensions online booklet gives you help and guidance about what to do from the moment of someone's death.

Age Concern factsheet including information on what happens when someone dies, how to arrange a funeral, financial help, organ donation, useful addresses and suggestions for further reading.

Age Concern has also published other excellent factsheets to tell you more about wills and related matters, such as dealing with a person's estate and getting legal advice.

"Cancer Journey" pack for people with learning difficulties
This pack contains a specific resource on bereavement. The link above will take you to the Plymouth Project website containing resources to help explain aspects of cancer to patients with learning difficulties. This pack was funded by the Big Lottery.

A hospital social worker, bereavement officer or nurse may also be able to help.
