Services in the Greater Manchester & Cheshire Cancer Network are currently being re-organised, but as a general guide:
(For more information about the below hospitals, including contact details, parking, travel and patients comments, click on the links):
Surgery:
If you require surgery for superficial bladder cancer you will be able to have your treatment in your local hospital. (Click here for a full list of hospitals.)
You will also have some intravesical therapy afterwards. This may be given in hospital, but some patients can have the treatment at home.
You will need to have regular cystoscopy examinations after treatment has finished. These are offered at most hospitals.
If you are going to have your bladder removed (cystectomy), you will also recieve treatment at one of the below "associate cancer centre" hospitals:
Salford Royal Hospital, Salford
If you require more complex surgery, you will be treated at: The Christie.
Radiotherapy:
You will have your radiotherapy at The Christie
Chemotherapy:
If you need chemotherapy for invasive or secondary bladder cancer, you will probably have it at The Christie.
